Yellow6 is the solo project of Jon Attwood, based in Leicestershire, UK. During the last two decades he has established himself as one of the foremost purveyors in the ambient/post-rock scene. Between the end of 2023 and mid 2024, Jon made around 4 hours of new music, nine selections of which are on Sometimes It Seems Too Easy, Sometimes It’s Just So Hard. The music for the album was selected with his friend Julian, who split the selection into rough groups of dynamic and static tracks. Jon decided that the album should consist of the dynamic tracks, and these are overall more rhythmical, more tonal variety and less ambient. At the final stage the album was carefully mastered by George Mastrokostas (Absent Without Leave). According to Jon’s own words:
“Life is full of change, sometimes more, sometimes less; sometimes good, sometimes bad. The past year has been one of those times of great change for me, and that has had an impact on me, and subsequently my music. This album is the result of that impact. The title of the album can be interpreted in a number of ways. One, of course, is musical. The title track itself was created and recorded in less than an hour, then later mixed, hence the title. It isn’t always like that, most music takes longer, and some just doesn’t work at all. But this title can apply to so many other aspects of life, times when things go almost too well, and times when nothing seems to go your way. This is my reflection of those changes and opposites of the past year through my music.”
