Gavin Miller - shimmer

For about fifteen years Gavin Miller has been pioneering mixing ambient, post-rock and electronica, whether solo or as one half of the groups worriedaboutsatan and Ghosting Season. His solo releases include three albums, five EPs and four split EPs with artists such as Thomas Ragsdale, Dalot and Russell.M.Harmon. Together with Thomas Ragsdale, the other half of worriedaboutsatan and Ghosting Season, they have released their music on labels such as Gizeh Records, Last Night On Earth, Wolves And Vibrancy Records, Fields, You Are Not Stealing Records and their own This Is It Forever. Shimmer showcases Miller’s atmospheric side by presenting a long-form composition, divided into six parts with a total duration of something more than 23 minutes. The electronic beats are left behind and only dreamy soundscapes and soothing atmospheres remain. Miller creates one of his finest works to date, blending gentle strumming guitar melodies, eerie synths, sparse bass lines, dark piano chords, hazy background drones, cinematic strings and indistinct vocal samples.
