Seeking perfection in minimalism, Vitaly Beskrovny is a musician and composer from Dnepropetrovsk in Ukraine who is set to release his fourth studio album early in the new year through Preserved Sound. An established talent, Vitaly locked himself away at the Dnepropetrovsk Conservatory to record ‘Imperfect’, attaching strips of fabric to piano strings and recording everything in a single sitting. The result, an album of brilliant acoustic honestly. Nine pieces driven forward by gentle piano melodies and lingering violin strings, ‘Imperfect’ is an intensely accurate title for Beskrovny’s latest work. Beautiful orchestration collides with an inconcealable honestly and subtle spontaneity, with each track not simply flowing, but ultimately blossoming. The minor inconsistencies in sound that fold into the melodies produce a warmth and texture that is often lost in the carefully rehearsed, heavily polished productions of the modern era, and as a consequence of Beskrovny’s unconventional recording style, he’s added an indelible quality to his album. ‘Worry’, ‘Trust’ and ‘Joy’ are prime examples of this fact, and true hallmarks of Beskrovny’s sound. Beautiful largely because of its imperfections, ‘Imperfect’ is an incredible work of art. ( Anthem )
