Grassow & Agthe : beyond the silence - live (2CD)

This summer, Mathias and Carsten performed live at the Gut Saunstorf, an early 20th century mansion now renovated and turned into a retreat in Northern Germany. The concert marked the end of an extended period of silence for the people attending, who were mainly guests from the retreat. For many, this was their first introduction into drone music. The recording captures the entire performance, two hours of raw and ritualistic music in the vein of Mathias' recent output. Experienced listeners will recognize foundation material from the Wisdom of Fate and Dämmerung albums which has then been improvised upon. Carsten's percussion also stays with the entire performance and adds a new dimension to the music. Both discs end with new compositions which were improvised and recorded during the night shift at the local hotel.
